great unsung poets through the ages: sky-byte

September 1st, 2008 · 3 Comments

Yes, who can forget Sky-Byte, that incredible metal shark beast-poet from The Transformers

His motto may well have been ‘I’ll tear my enemies to shreds’ but let’s not forget his soft marshmallowly side. Like so many of history’s great psychopaths, Sky-Byte was also a bit of a poet

Who can forget this fine piece of jingoistic verse?

Who’s the baddest shark around?
Who’s the smartest shark in town?
Sky-Byte, that’s me!
Who’ll drive Scourge into the ground
And never let old Megatron down –
Sky-Byte, that’s me! (Sky-Byte)

Or this remarkable self tribute in haiku form?

Sky-Byte’s delightful flames
rose on butterfly wings!
Black orange burning (Sky-Byte)

Not only did Sky-Byte almost destroy Optimus Prime in a fierce underwater conflict but he also composed a haiku for him

Blasted into dust
Optimus Prime is destroyed!
Day of reckoning (Sky-Byte)

If only more officers of war followed Sky-Byte’s example… the world might be a better place, a place filled with haiku-reciting angry shark autobots and really what more could we possibly want from life?

Sky-Byte’s poems from this site, thanks
