Well China and Britain seem to like handing things over and last night was no exception. I had a number of thoughts during London’s showcase at the closing ceremony. Are these worth sharing with you? No! But here it goes anyway
*When the doubler-decker bus opened up to reveal some grass camouflaged type ‘thing’ I did have a bit of a Trojan horse moment
*The Mayor of London just let it all hang out. He was nice and relaxed and he looked like he’d bought his suit from Marks and Sparks
* Why on earth didn’t they use London Calling as their song instead of Whole Lotta Love? Led Zeppelin are boring. The only good song they ever did was Stairway to Heaven and even then it was only a song guys who couldn’t play the guitar used to play to impress chicks with. Sure the London Calling lyrics are a bit negative but surely it’s gotta be better than ‘you’ve been coolin baby, I’ve been droolin’
One more thing, can anyone tell me why there was a woman in her undies playing the violin?

oh squib! don’t knock led zeppelin, please don’t. examples of my fan-ness: our cat is called zeppie, and I walked up the aisle to ’stairway to heaven’. actually not my choice, my ex-husband’s. I try not to think about it too hard, like, I mean, what was he trying to tell me?
if you need a laugh, wiki up boris johnson (mayor of london). the man is a fool and a buffoon, but quite a laugh.

Yes Boris looks like he’s secured his place in ‘Brewer’s Rogues, Villains and Eccentrics’
Stairway to Heaven. I tell you it’s the oldest trick in the book. I fell for it too

Led Zep fan here, too. I thought Jimmy Page looked great for a man in his mid-60s. Never heard of the girl singer, though.
My favourite moment was when Goldenballs kicked his soccer ball off the top of the bus and hit a Chinese volunteer in the noggin.
I didn’t notice the undie clad violinist. Perhaps it was one of those computer generated images just for Australian telly.
Woo hoo, only 2 more years until the winter Olympics in Canada. I can hardly wait for the pageantry and scads and scads of Canuck medals. How does Australia fare in skiing, skating and ice hockey?

They should’ve had Morrisey of the Smiths singing ‘Panic on the Streets’ of London or whatever that song was called.
