classics in a nutshell

July 11th, 2008 · 5 Comments

I’d seen the Movie-A-Minute website but not this Book-A-Minute one where classics are ultra-condensed. This, for example, is Great Expectations by Dickens (beautifully distilled by Conrad Jacoby)

Pip

I’m Pip. I’m poor.

(Lots of THINGS happen.)

Pip

My life didn’t matter, because I’m still poor and alone.

THE END

    Hmmm.
    James Bond.

I got the girl in the supporting role

    Played golf

Went off to 3 different “exotic” locations around the world

    Escaped death

Got the girl in the main “heroine” role.

Wiped out the main evil henchmen/women…plus the evil “facility”….then “Mr Evil” once I had the satisfaction of watching him see his evil plan destroyed in front of his eyes.

Got the heroine again..in some sort of lifeboat/escape capsule.

M makes some witty double entendre like “Keep it up, Bond!”

    The End.

Very good, though a bit long winded

If only I’d known about this when I was taking that Victorian Novel class …

    And how I wish I’d had a tutor at uni who’d said, ‘I want a 3 sentence essay…’
