strange tales from science’s outer edge

Having just read a book about two Pilkingtons, I’ve moved onto a book by a Pilkington. If you’ve ever wondered about meteorite jelly, keranography, or where your second brain might be, this is a very cool little book to dip into: Far Out: 101 Strange Tales from Science’s Outer Edge by Mark Pilkington

If they’d just get a hurry on with teleportation I could let you borrow it. Of course I’d make sure I wrote my name on the cover

Yes, teleportation. It’s all very naff …the progress on that. They reckon it’s still 50 years to the successful transfer of one tiny object like a pin and it will take the output of 10 power stations.

It’s more likely that nanos will come first and just copy it with a home production unit which will be able to make anything.

And where are these bloody holographic films we were promised 30 years ago?

Oh yeah I’m still hanging out for that machine that irons all your clothes that I saw on ‘Towards 2000′

    Scientists these days, eh
