stars in our eyes, and grass too

June 21st, 2008 · 8 Comments

Yesterday MrSquib made his acting debut. Plucked from the audience at a puppet show, he was given the role of grass. The part required a lot of technical swaying and by all accounts MrSquib had a natural flair for the part

It’s early days yet but we are hoping he might get to be an extra (they need quite a lot) in The Infinite Lawn, a movie inspired by Italo Calvino’s famous four pages on lawn in Mr Palomar. It’s rumoured to be a ponderous examination on the nature of being, told through the lives of each blade of grass. The casting is very soon

Fingers crossed!

Oh, I shouldn’t get too excited yet, but my mind is running amok at the possibilities of roles for Mr Squib in remakes of:

    Blade Runner
    Field of Dreams
    How Green was my Valley
    Splendor in the Grass
    The Grass Menagerie

Or perhaps a television series along the lines of “The Lawn Ranger” hi ho silver!

Where would we be without each blade doing its part? Reminding me of a Monty Python shining hour…

    every blade is sacred,
    every blade is good
    every blade is needed
    in our neighborhood.

    Oh, it wasn’t “blade”, exactly?
    Oh well…

    If a blade is wasted,
    God gets quite iraaaaaate!

That was actually “every SPERM is sacred”, similar but differnt to grass, so I can understand the confusion.

I always prefered the Cheese Shop sketch.
