how to cheat at hangman

March 14th, 2008 · 4 Comments

I know, what sort of petty and depraved individual would feel the need to cheat at hangman? It’s completely beyond me, really. But for research purposes lets explore one such method here

The average hangman has twelve bits

You do a three letter word like so  _ _ _

The word ends thus

 _ a t

Clearly in order to cozen your way to success, your chosen word is not fixed until your opponent is hung

Even if your victim gets the ‘a’ and the ‘t’ straight away it is impossible for them to guess the first letter because there are 12 possible (maybe more?) words that end in ‘at’ (excluding tat which won’t work for obvious reasons)

bat, fat, gat, mat, sat, rat, pat, vat, oat, eat, cat, hat

That is brilliant. I’m going to use this to swindle people from now on.

Hmmm. Eight letter word, 4th letter = e, is one of her better ones.

    Dont ask!
