101 uses for rejection letters: #no 8

March 6th, 2008 · 5 Comments

8. Butterflies

Butterflies, universally loved by everybody (except sufferers of lepidopterophobia and cabbage farmers). Butterflies, a fleeting symbol of joy, hope, transformation, love, good fortune, and the soul

I give you rejection letter butterflies, colourless, pinned to a board, and labelled The Genus Despero

You will need: rejection letters put onto card, pictures of butterflies for the template, a board, pins, double sided tape, scissors, a frame

    They look very smart.
    I’m quite impressed
You seem to have male/female….sorry female/male…of lots of different varieties.

However, you don’t seem to have a ‘Comma’ style one with the raggedy wings.

I suppose you could take 2 out the case and give them to the dog for a while.

That’s all I need, a butterfly expert… give them to the dog? Give them TO THE DOG?

Did Michelangelo break bits off and give them to his DOG? Oh that finger’s not right, I’ll just give that to Rufus to chew on? Well?

Hi Squibby (is that what I call you here?). You were right - very special. I think you have the makings of an article here; you could submit it widely, harvest the rejection letters and then watch your head explode with how very meta it all is.

How many letters did you take parts from for this one? I recognise the Little Hare header, but am going cross-eyed looking for other identifying features - wait, is that a random house-y thing I see? Or maybe Omnibus? Must stop looking now!

Hi Meg! I used 10 letters : Hare Books, Penguin, Macmillan, Simon & Schuster, Harper Collins, Lothian, Allen & Unwin, Omnibus, Fremantle Arts Press, and Black Dog Books
