Sing a Song for Us Tonight is a segment where people choose a song that is special to them and explain why. Today’s guest is Me (if you’d like to save me from being my own guest on my own blog then please email me with a song you like and story why, cheers). I’ve picked Mad World by Tears for Fears
When I was 15, I entered a competition on Hey, Hey It’s Saturday.
Embarrassing maybe but nonetheless they pulled my name out of the barrel and I won a trip for two to Rio de Janeiro for 5 days, to see various people in concert including Bob Dylan, Tears for Fears, Elton John, and a really popular semi heavy metal band (can’t remember who they were but I gave those tickets to the room maid at the hotel)
Anyway, it just so happened that I turned 16 while I was in Rio and the record people organised a surprise for me. Which is how I came to have Tears For Fears sing me Happy Birthday at a concert in Rio. So yes in the words of Tears for Fears: ‘Children waiting for the day they feel good/Happy birthday, happy birthday’
