the growing problem of lawnmowers on trains

January 23rd, 2008 · 5 Comments

On returning from Perth today, I noticed a large sign in the carriage I was in, warning people that they can be fined for carrying various suspect items such as knives, hamburgers, and spray cans. I was surprised to read that there is also a $50-$250 fine for anyone caught taking their lawnmower on the train

Clearly this problem is serious enough for there the be a rule, a sign, and a fine for it

Has anyone else noticed a proliferation of lawnmowers on our trains? And what other things should be added to that sign?

hmmm. the last british train i travelled on had a sign saying…

“no vacuum cleaners. this train is a sh*tpit and that’s how we like to keep it. penalty = £250 or community service or a free season ticket for this service.”
