Not that Kate Bush needs improving but this is a very cool version of Hounds of Love. I’m a bit behind the times because this was released in 2005… I always thought these guys were from Scotland but they’re from Sunderland apparently

sci fi books: omega, the sparrow, end of the world blues
January 29th, 2008 · 2 Comments
I read a few sci fi books over summer
Jack McDevitt’s Omega is about mysterious clouds that move through the universe destroying civilisations. It’s about a human quest to save one such civilisation, that is in the path of an oncoming cloud. It’s pretty classic sci fi and I enjoyed it. To McDevitt’s credit, I hadn’t […]

It is with sadness that we remember the Golden Retriever puppy Monkey, the puppy that in some respects never was
Monkey made her debut into our 4 year old’s life and heart, on the Nintendo DS Lite that Santa brought her last Christmas
LittleSquib trained Monkey well, entered Monkey in Disk throwing competitions, Agilty Trials, took Monkey for […]

5. Party Hat
Since it’s my birthday today, I thought a rejection party hat would be a nice touch. I think this hat has joie de vivre written all over it
You will need: a rejection letter, cardboard, tissue paper, elastic, glue, metallic cello, stapler, double sided tape, a smiley face, a compass, a pencil

Sing a Song for Us Tonight is a segment where people choose a song that is special to them and explain why. Today’s guest is Me (if you’d like to save me from being my own guest on my own blog then please email me with a song you like and story why, cheers). I’ve picked Mad World by […]

the growing problem of lawnmowers on trains
January 23rd, 2008 · 5 Comments
On returning from Perth today, I noticed a large sign in the carriage I was in, warning people that they can be fined for carrying various suspect items such as knives, hamburgers, and spray cans. I was surprised to read that there is also a $50-$250 fine for anyone caught taking their lawnmower on the train
Clearly […]

4. Spitballs
Some might say a spitball is not a silk purse. This is true, however I’m a sentimental beast and a spitball never fails to trigger fond high school memories of halcyon days in the classroom… boys called Dale, Darren, or Damian masticating their human biology books, and flicking their pulpy missiles at the ceiling with such prowess, such finesse […]

best fireworks: fremantle or perth?
January 22nd, 2008 · 2 Comments
Is it the City of Perth’s Australia Day Firework Spectacular or Cicerello’s Fremantle family friendly Australia Day fireworks? Crackers are a serious business. Note the fracas it created last year when (then) Perth Mayor Peter Nattrass said
Comparing Fremantle’s proposed Australia Day cracker show to Lotterywest Skyworks is like comparing the City of Fremantle to the […]
