Actually, absolutely, apparently, completely, endlessly, constantly, really, totally, unfortunately, obviously, incredibly, hopefully, finally, definitely, and I start sentences with So, OK, and Anyway. Sometimes when I’m really excited one maximiser is not enough and I’ll say ‘really really’ which is just (another one!) plain silly
I hardly ever use the adverb ‘ironically’ because I have a deep fear of misusing the word ‘irony’ due to the whole irony controversy that really (there I go again) confuses me. There’s even (oops there I go again) a word for this condition: ironicphobia. Ironicphobia is the fear of misusing the word irony and being mocked by pedants wearing dicky bows
However I am not alone in this
if you took away empty adverbs 60% of weblogs would disappear right off the net. It’s because people try to get a spoken word quality to their paragraphs, and I know I do it a bit — actually. I’ve become painfully aware of how many people start off their entries with ‘So’. (sunny breaks)
So but this really really is how I talk. I’m an adverbial shambles, so I am
With the exception of ‘endlessly’ though, I don’t use these words in my non-blog writing. I can’t imagine a context in which I might use the word ‘totally’ in a poem, for example… but maybe I can, hmmm

Following right behind “act…ly” (I can’t even stand to WRITE the word, it’s SOOO overused) is “absolutely,” which must be triple-starred in most “power vocabulary” and self-help books. And how about those oddly unnecessary triplets: “that said,” “that being said,” and “having said that” ? Then there’s the timetested politicians’ favorite, starting every other phrase with “clearly.” Makes a gal want to move to a non-English speaking country.
