Yes, favourite-uncle-number-two (he isn’t number one on account of him not having given me a casio vl when I was young and easily swayed by trinkets) and his muse are arriving this afternoon from the Far East (Country Victoria). I spoke to favourite-uncle-number-two on the phone a couple of days ago and we had a mutual therapy session about our fear of flying. As I was not hopping on a plane and he, poor chap, is soon to, I thought it would be beneficial to engage him in conversation about that TV series Air Crash Investigation and various classic air disaster films

In preparation, the guest room has been spruced up and supplied with fresh sheets, towels, irises in a vase, rosemary and chamomile handmade soaps, and of course freddo frogs (the squib family’s currency of choice)

I don’t know if they will be able to cope with the barmy weather, the flushing toilet or the fact that we have a door on our toilet, and the fact that our showers do not spew out dirty water from the bottom of some muddy dam

No doubt they will think they have landed in paradise

But the best part is, favourite-uncle-number-two is a brilliant writer so we can spend endless hours moaning about how misunderstood but profound we both are…
