We saw This is England on the weekend at the Luna SX, Fremantle. A funny, disturbing, but most of all an interesting movie, especially if, like me, you thought all skinheads were white and spent their days throwing bricks through deli windows. The acting was superb and the music was nifty too.

Good film
Reminded me of a friend of mine who was once a skinhead.
He was in a gang ofskins who were anti-rascism and would battle with the right wing thugs. His dad was the editor at the Daily Mirror in Manchester, hence his left wing working class beliefs.
Did you know that there was a music scene called Oi! that combined punks and skins and stood up against rascism and fascism.
If you didn’t check this out

I was too old to be a bootboy but I wouldn’t have been one anyway.
Oi! Oi! punk was quite a larf and not racist, more a celebration of being a proletarian lad. Check out the U.K. Subs and The Ruts. However Sham 69 WERE a sham….Pursey got that right!
