Thanks to a new tool called wikiscanner, people can now view the IP addresses of people who edit wikipedia. It lists anonymous edits from ‘interesting organisations’ like the Vatican, the world’s governments, and other organisations. The person who developed it, Virgil Griffith, said he wanted to create ‘a fireworks display of public relations disasters for all the world to sit back, and enjoy’

Well so far, it’s pretty entertaining. Australian Government departments and media outlets caught re-editing history with accusations flying back and forth like an atari game of Pong

Just in case you’re wondering, the P.M’s IP allegedly made 29 edits to the wiki entry on the gang gang cockatoo. Also from that IP, changes were made to entries on Johnny Cash, Jesus, and Peter Costello… now that is funny
